Isabelle est une artiste peintre française née en 1967, surtout connue pour ses peintures au néocolor de Caran d’Ache qui représentent des personnages d’enfants.
Artiste mondialement connue grâce à une phrase « Quand je serai grand(e) je serai », Isabelle adopte un style naïf qui nous emmène directement en enfance.
Entre son atelier à Paris, où elle donne des cours de dessin et de peinture, et son atelier à Sauveterre-de-Rouergue, son village d’Aveyron, elle travaille tout l’été dans la maison de sa grand-mère.
Les tableaux de la créatrice française inondent les chambres de nos enfants. Sous des airs faussement naïfs, chaque tableau raconte une histoire et décrit le caractère d’un enfant…
An artist with a child’s soul… Isabelle Kessedjian is a French artist, born in 1967. She is known above all for her works in Caran d’Ache neocolor wax oil pastel representing different figures of children. Isabelle is known throughout the world for her renowned phrase: “ When I grow up I am going to …” and her naïve style that plunges us into the realm of infancy. She works in her artist studio in Paris, where she runs her drawing and painting classes, and in her studio located in her grandmother’s house in her natal village of Sauveterre-de-Rouergue in the central Aveyron region of France.
The internationally renowned paintings of this French artistic creator are to be found in profusion in the rooms of our children. Beneath the air of apparent naive innocence every work tells a story and describes the character of a child.
Depuis toujours, Isabelle a la passion de la création. De l’art du crochet, de la couture et du tricot transmis par sa grand tante arménienne et ses grands-mères françaises, à la peinture, en passant par le papier mâché qu’elle découvre au Mexique pendant son enfance, cette artiste est une véritable touche-à-tout.
« Après 5 années d’études dans la publicité, je me suis rendue compte très vite que ce milieu ne me correspondait pas. Mon profil très créatif et ma passion pour l’art m’ont amenée très rapidement à ouvrir mon atelier pour faire partager ma passion et transmettre mon savoir aux enfants et aux adultes. J’enseigne le dessin et j’y ai enseigné la sculpture »
Après avoir étudié la communication visuelle et travaillé en tant que graphiste, elle a commencé à se concentrer sur la peinture dès 1995. Depuis lors, elle a accroché ses œuvres à de nombreuses occasions. L’ouverture d’une exposition permanente dans une galerie digitale est totalement d’actualité.
A l’origine, elle tire son inspiration de ses entants avec qui elle vivait dans sa maison-atelier de Paris. Et c’est alors qu’elle peint son premier « quand je serai grand ».
Des tableaux très naïfs, joyeux et toujours colorés, au format carré, représentant des enfants aux grands yeux, qui racontent leurs rêves. Un style et un trait qui ont su évoluer sans perdre la magie de l’enfance.
Isabelle rencontre de plus en plus de succès. Elle est éditée au début par Label Tour, maison d’édition spécialisée dans la vente de produits d’artistes, puis par Derrière la Porte et Alma Mater. Aujourd’hui, ses œuvres sont vendues et traduites dans toute l’Europe, mais aussi en Australie, au Japon, au Canada et aux États-Unis.
When I grow up I will be an artist… Since her infancy Isabelle has been passionately creative. From crochet work, sewing and knitting creations using techniques inherited from her Armenian aunty and her French grandmothers, to creative paper maché sculptures inspired by works discovered in Mexico during her childhood and on to painting, Isabelle turns her versatile hand to all forms of art and craft work. “After 5 years of study in advertising, I quickly realised that this environment didn’t suit me. My creative personality and passion for art led me to the opening of my first art studio in order to share my love of art and transmit my knowledge to children and adults. I taught the arts of drawing and sculpture. Following studies in visual communication and working as a graphic designer, Isabelle began to concentrate on painting in 1995. Since this time her works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions. The opening of a permanent exhibition in a digital gallery is an obvious step forward for her. In Isabelle’s art studio inside her home in Paris her young children were the inspiration behind her first paintings of “When I grow up”. Innocent, playful and brightly coloured paintings in a square format, show children with big eyes expressing their dreams. Lines and style have developed over time but the childish magic remains. Isabelle is increasingly successful. She was contracted and her works published with Label Tour who specialises in the sale of art products, then she began working with Derrière la Porte & Alma Mater. Today her artworks are sold and translated throughout Europe, in Australia, Japan, Canada and the USA.
